Clinical Responsibilities In accordance with the agreed practice timetable, the post-holder will undertake a range of clinical duties including: Conducting face-to-face consultations Managing telephone and digital consultations Participating in the practices total triage system delivered through Accurx, reviewing and clinically assessing patient requests and determining the most appropriate course of action Undertaking duty doctor / on-call sessions, providing same-day clinical assessment and decision-making for urgent patient needs. On-call responsibilities are shared across the GP team and allocated on a sessional pro-rata basis Carrying out home visits where clinically appropriate Checking, signing and reauthorising repeat prescriptions Managing patient queries, clinical correspondence and administrative tasks in a timely manner The post-holder will also: Make professional and autonomous clinical decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals Assess the healthcare needs of patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions Screen patients for risk factors and early signs of disease Develop care plans in partnership with patients and in line with practice disease management protocols Provide health promotion, counselling and preventative care Admit or discharge patients from the practice caseload and refer to other healthcare providers where appropriate Maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with professional and medico-legal standards Contribute to clinical audit and data collection activities Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary, or generically where clinically appropriate Support the teaching and supervision of GP registrars and undergraduate medical students, contributing to the practices role as a training environment In general, the post-holder will undertake all duties and responsibilities normally associated with a General Practitioner working in primary care.
