Summary
The main responsibility of this post will be to work as the registered Nurse alongside our Senior Healthcare Support Workers and Endoscopists in delivering high level care to patients in all areas of the unit; this role is highly technical as you will be working with state of the art endoscopic equipment which helps to diagnose, assess and treat patients conditions with the Gastrointestinal tract. This can be a physically demanding and challenging role but is very rewarding for the right candidate. The applicant does not require previous endoscopy experience as all training will be given, however a NMC registration is vital for this role. If you are motivated, enthusiastic and a confident team worker with good communication skills, you will be well suited to work within this large multidisciplinary team. Working pattern: Monday to Sunday, 08.00 to 22.00 (working pattern may be negotiable to suit successful applicant and may be subject to change as the service develops). Key Responsibilities: Promote and set high standards of nursing care and maintain the delivery of quality care within the trust policies, protocols and guidelines. Provide and deliver a high standard of evidence-based nursing care through the assessment, planning, and evaluating of individual patients needs based on evidence. Initiate and co-ordinate care in the clinical area patients undertaking endoscopy procedures. Recognise and respond to a change in patient status undertaking first line interventions within scope of practice and refer on to the appropriate clinician as required. Actively promote safe and effective working practices to prevent harm to the patients within your care and take part in safety audits to maintain high quality standards. Report, escalate and manage patient safety events and clinical emergencies as detailed in Trust-wide and local protocols and procedures. Be proactive in the prevention and management of complaints (formal and those via Patient Advice and Liaison Service) and when they occur investigate and respond in a timely manner. In conjunction with other team members, participate in quality monitoring and improvements via involvement in the Portsmouth Bundle. Manage the discharge and transfer of patients by using the SAFER discharge bundle and other discharge policies to ensure a seamless transition from hospital to home or other community care services.
