Summary
Job title: Construction Manager - Runway Construction Projects
Job Type: Contract - Inside IR35
Duration: ASAP (TBC) - 12 Month duration - potential to extend
Salary Range: Rates around experience
Location: London, UK
Full Site Based/Hybrid/Remote Working: Full Site Based (Office/Project)
Hours of work: Full Time - 40 hours a week
Role information:
- Lead construction teams on a major aviation infrastructure project.
- Manage civil construction activities in a live operational environment.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, and project controls teams.
- Review constructability, logistics, sequencing, and temporary works strategies.
- Monitor contractor performance, quality, cost, and programme delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), and quality standards.
- Support commissioning, project handover, and close-out activities.
- Mentor and supervise Field Engineers and construction personnel.
- Resolve on-site technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline - or equivalent professional experience
- Significant experience as a Construction Manager, Senior Field Engineer, or similar on major civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering projects in live operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, sequencing, and constructability.
- Excellent understanding of HSE and quality management practices.
- Experience managing contractors, project schedules, costs, and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent.
- Aviation, airfield, or major transport infrastructure experience.
- Knowledge of UK CDM Regulations.
- Experience administering NEC contracts.
- Experience delivering brownfield projects in live environments.
