Raw Materials Coordinator 

We’re looking for a Raw Materials Coordinator to join our team at our Clitheroe site, playing a key role in ensuring the highest

standards of food safety, quality, legality, and customer compliance are maintained.

Location: Clitheroe

Hours: Tuesday – Friday: 11am – 7:30pm & Saturday: 6:30am – 3pm

Salary:  £33,738 per annum

Purpose:

The Raw Materials Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring all food and packaging materials delivered to site meet the

required specifications and are approved by both the site and customers. This will include completing product checks, maintaining

high standards throughout the intake process, and ensuring compliance across all raw material storage areas. The role will also be

responsible for managing any non-conformances raised, working closely with relevant internal teams and suppliers to investigate,

resolve and prevent reoccurrence where required.

Key Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

* Support the retention of the BRCGS ‘AA+’ grade.

* Ensure materials brought to site are monitored and released for use based on relevant food safety and quality parameters.

* Work with production to ensure paperwork is correct and traceability is maintained.

* Support all customer visits from the technical side of the business.

* Continually train and develop the warehouse team and the QA operatives working in the factory on anything technically related.

* Generate KPIs within agreed timescales.

* Act as the product quality champion, covering specifications, quality standards and product aesthetics.

* Ensure all intake checks for packaging and products are carried out in line with agreed standards, including checks against

site and raw material specifications. Checks include pH, temperature, sensory, salinity, vehicle condition, delivery condition

and salt trending.

* Raw material management: micro and nutritional schedule maintenance.

* Place raw materials on hold in the M3 system to prevent use pending inspection, positive release or out-of-specification

review.

* Issue and complete non-conformances and communicate any non-conformities to suppliers and transport companies.

* Support and lead supplier risk assessments and reviews.

* Drive Good Manufacturing Practices by monitoring and enforcing low-risk staff compliance with company procedures and relevant

technical requirements. Support continual improvement in procedures, personnel behaviour and fabrication standards.

* Manage all relevant GMP, fabrication, glass and plastic audits.

* Create and prepare procedures, forms and product quality standards as required.

* Record and report technical KPIs relating to suppliers and new product development.

* Support supplier approval process including the approved supplier list.

* Train factory staff on any relevant processes, products and procedures.

* Control printed packaging changes / promotion / seasonal changes in co-operation with the Warehouse team.

* Coordinate technical tasks to ensure the site remains audit-ready at all times.

* Actively support external, third-party, customer and BRCGS audits.

* Carry out internal audits.

* Actively monitor standards to support the maintenance of BRCGS Grade ‘AA+’ status.

* Work alongside the QA team and cover responsibilities where required.

Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities:

* Understand health and safety responsibilities, site rules and any issues that could affect their own or others’ health, safety

and welfare.

* Work in a safe manner at all times  

* Fully comply with all signage, notices, warning labels and related instructions.

* Bring any hazards or unsafe conditions that may lead to injury, ill health or damage to the attention of their manager.

* Participate fully in all health, safety and environmental training sessions, safety briefings and toolbox talks.

* Do not misuse or interfere with anything provided to ensure their own safety or the safety of others.

* Ensure a good standard of housekeeping is maintained within the working environment to minimise the risk of injury to

themselves or others.  

* Correctly use and store the protective clothing and equipment provided.

* Report all injuries, near misses and instances of ill health that occur at work, and obtain the necessary first aid treatment.

* Support accident investigations to help prevent recurrence.

* Set a good example of safe behaviour, particularly to new starters and young colleagues.

Food Safety & Quality Responsibilities:

* Work to required food safety and quality standards.  

* Observes the site personal hygiene requirements. 

* Ensure correct procedures are followed, paperwork is completed accurately and product quality standards are maintained.

* Ensure the working area is clean and tidy.  

* Encourage good practice and challenge poor practice relating to CAYG (clean as you go) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene

* Level 3 HACCP

* Understanding of appropriate use of PPE and relevant procedures

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy

* Accurate completion of required documentation.

* Must be able to communicate effectively across departments and work well with others

* Good written and verbal English, with good basic numeracy skills.

* Ability to work in an organised, methodical manner.

* Ability to understand and apply the requirements set by the line manager, current applicable food legislation, the BRC Global

Standard and customer codes of practice.

* Good analytical abilities

* Ability to coach others on procedures and processes when non-conformance is identified.
