The “Super Support Worker” Badge – Could you join our squirrel club?

Are you ready to earn your most important badge yet? We’re looking for a fun, energetic and patient support worker to join the “clubhouse” of our 9 year old girl, in Durham (DH1)

If you know your A-Woof from your Stick, and you’re not afraid of a little bouncing and spinning, we want you to join our team.

Who is our lead squirrel?

Our daughter is a joyful 9-year-old with a big personality and loves life. She has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and learning disabilities.

She’s a world-class expert in;

· The Duggee Hug – She absolutely loves Hey Duggee (hence our ad being written this way)· The bouncing badge – She finds happiness in big movement like bouncing and spinning· The comedy badge – Despite being non-verbal, she always finds a way of making people laugh.

What is the role?

Your adventures would include

· Helping her navigate her world safely - sometimes on foot, sometimes in her “wheels”. She does not require lifting as she is mostly independent within her home.

· Be her play-partner in all things sensory exploration· Keep a watchful eye on her epilepsy (full training will be provided) and helping with all elements of personal care, including toileting/changing.· We need someone who can stay as calm as Duggee himself, as she can sometimes exhibit some challenging behaviour.

What we’re looking for

· Resilience & Patience – Although she doesn’t tend to hurt those around her, she does need someone who will understand that things can be overwhelming sometimes.· Reliability – Consistency is key for building trust and a safe environment for her.· Previous experience with SEND is a plus but a positive attitude is more important. We’ll give you any training you need, including on epilepsy management.· As you’ll be looking after her in our home, we’re not worried if you can drive or have your own transport.

Enhanced DBS will be required, employer will cover the cost
