Summary

Why you should join our Team The jobholder will practice under the guidance and direction of the Consultant Surgeon, participating and assisting in operative procedures, pre and post-operative care as necessary. The job holder will in partnership with the Matron, Theatre Coordinators, Perioperative Team Leaders and Specialist Perioperative Practitioners to provide education, training, and practice development within the surgical speciality peri- operative team based within the operating theatres. The jobholder will monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence based practice, teaching and supporting colleagues, and will provide skilled professional leadership. The jobholder will actively contribute to the clinical governance agenda within the clinical management teams. The job holder will maintain a visible and professional presence where patients, families, carers and staff can access for advice and support regarding pre, intra and post-operative care. What you will bring to the role Criteria: Registered Nurse Level 1 or 2 or Registered Operating Department Practitioner. Recognised Surgical Care Practitioner Qualification Evidence of CPD in a relevant specialty Evidence of post-graduate study Extensive experience working within a theatre environment Evidence of on-going professional development Demonstrable education and training within the clinical environment Clinical audit and standard setting Evidence of managing and leading staff Previous experience as a Surgical Assistant (Desirable) Advanced clinical expertise and surgical procedure skills Advanced communication and leadership skills Ability to monitor, maintain and improve service delivery Excellent interpersonal skills Teaching and assessing skills Please see the attached job description for further information about this vacancy.
