Learning Support PractitionerRef: 2526/225 + 250Hours: 22.5 hours per week during term time (36 weeks per year)Salary: £13,747 to £14,086 per annum. Plus generous benefits, including a Generous Occupational Pension SchemeAbout the roleOur Learning Support Practitioners provide educational support and care to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities across College.You will provide support, either one-to-one or for small groups of students, in class and across unstructured time to:enable full understanding of the curriculum and overcome barriers to learningassist teaching staff by supporting students and guiding their learninghelp with mobility and personal care needs in College and on off-site visitsIn addition to in-class support there may be opportunities or requirements to provide out of class support to students over lunch and break times and support with transport at the end of the college day. There is also a requirement to proactively liaise with tutors to provide a positive learning experience for learners..About the personApplicants should be educated to Level 3 or above and should have skills in a number of the following areas: support for people on the autistic spectrumsupport for students with emotional and/or behavioural issuessupport for people with severe learning difficulties/disabilitiessupport for people with medical conditionsknowledge and understanding of ICT and assistive technologysupport for students with visual impairmentsupport for students with hearing impairmentmobility and personal care The following working patterns are available, please specify on your application form in the supporting evidence section which working pattern you would prefer:Monday, Thursday & FridayTuesday, Thursday & FridayAbout the CollegeYork College & University Centre is the largest further education college in the region, offering a comprehensive range of courses from Entry Level to degree level.
