Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist (Inpatient CAMHS)
10 sessions per week
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a substantive Consultant post based on Evergreen Ward, an 8-bed acute unit in Luton.
Evergreen Ward is a highly specialised in-patient service for adolescents with severe and complex mental disorders. The ward provides acute care within a therapeutic environment, supporting young people through comprehensive assessment and treatment.
There is a highly experienced multidisciplinary team providing holistic biopsychosocial assessments and treatment packages to young people and their families, who are actively involved in co-production.
East London NHS Foundation Trust is widely recognised as a centre of excellence in mental health care, innovation, and quality improvement. Our mission is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by improving quality of life.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment where appropriate, undertake risk assessments, and contribute a psychiatric perspective to care planning. The post holder will provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, offer consultation to other professionals and agencies, and contribute to ongoing service development.
The post holder will also be expected to participate in a range of additional activities, including clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching, and training. We would be particularly interested in candidates’ areas of special interest and how these may contribute to service development.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Clinical Director (based across two inpatient hospitals) within the service and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in the assessment and management of young people and their families presenting with severe and enduring mental disorders. The role also involves close liaison with community stakeholders, including CAMHS, Social Care, Education services, Youth Offending Teams, Acute Hospitals, and Adult Mental Health services.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are:We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive. We are therefore looking for individuals who champion these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues across the Trust and partner organisations.
We are committed to active co-production. There is a strong focus on quality improvement, with a range of ongoing projects, and close working with community colleagues, particularly in developing admission avoidance pathways across the systems we serve.
We work collaboratively with CAMHS Provider Collaboratives and maintain close partnership working with other services within the Trust, including the Coborn Centre in East London. Collaboration and joint working are central to how the service operates.
