Summary
Uniserve is seeking a HGV Class 1 Driver to safely and efficiently deliver customer goods (5-6 deliveries per day) across multiple delivery locations while maintaining excellent service standards.
Salary: £41,791 annual
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday and willing to complete 2-3 overnight stays per week as required by the business
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant at all times
Complete multi-drop deliveries and collections, typically 5-6 drops per day
Deliver goods safely, securely, and in accordance with customer requirements
Accurately complete all delivery documentation and use handheld devices where required
Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive, and Road Transport legislation
Maintain communication with the traffic office regarding delivery progress, delays, or issues
Secure loads correctly and carry out all required load checks during the journey
Provide excellent customer service and act as a professional ambassador for the company
Report vehicle defects, incidents, accidents, or near misses promptly
Keep the vehicle clean and presentable
Complete overnight stays (typically 2-3 nights per week) in line with operational requirements
Compliance and Safety Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
Comply with company policies, customer site rules, and industry regulations
Ensure safe loading and unloading practices are followed at all times
Wear appropriate PPE when required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential
Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence
Valid Driver CPC qualification
Digital Tachograph Card
Previous Class 1 driving experience
Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network
Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Desirable
Multi-drop delivery experience
Experience using telematics and electronic proof of delivery systems
Forklift licence (if applicable)
