Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologists to join our large Psychological Therapies Service at HMP Pentonville. The Therapy team comprises of Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy and works closely with the Inreach Mental Health team. This posts has a strong clinical component to it, since the post holder will support the team in carrying out assessments and delivering evidence-based 1:1 and group interventions for men with mental health needs, including anxiety, depression and trauma.
The successful applicant will support the team in a range of activities such as group work and management of individual caseloads, as well as delivery of training and contribution to service improvement initiatives and evaluations. The post holder will contribute to risk assessment and management, working alongside partner agencies and prison colleagues to improve outcomes for those most at risk. Additional opportunities in supporting men with neurodevelopmental needs are available, since the Therapies service leads on the assessment of and provision of intervention for men with ADHD, ASD and Intellectual Disability.
• Carry out assessments of mental health needs and risks
• Facilitating individual and groupwork therapy to clients in the prison
• Supporting with waiting lists and service development.
• To co-deliver workshops and training to colleagues and other professionals.
• To attend clinical meeting and in-service training as required.
• To keep up to date with new techniques and research for the maintenance and promotion of good practice especially in relation to mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Record all clinical information in line with trust policies
• Support service development and quality improvement projects.
• Support with data collection and analysis

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
• To carry out and assist clinicians with psychological assessments of clients in prison
• To engage in multidisciplinary discussions around formulation and care planning involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
• To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups and workshops, where appropriate.
• To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary or multi-agency meetings.
• To support with waiting list oversight, team protocols,audit, service development,quality improvement projects and service user participation.
• To support with dissemination of information.
