Summary
The duties and responsibilities of the Phlebotomist may include, but are not limited to: Collecting blood samples in accordance with current training, policies, and infection control procedures Ensuring all samples are accurately and legibly labelled to confirm patient identity Recording details of all sample collections in patient records, following practice protocols Preparing and dispatching samples to appropriate laboratories in a timely and safe manner Assisting clinicians with chaperoning duties during examinations or procedures Processing and managing other laboratory samples requested by GPs or Nurses Supporting vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring, and recording in line with policy and the Green Book Maintaining adequate stocks of surgical equipment and vaccines, ensuring correct rotation and replenishment Clearing, cleaning, and restocking consulting rooms between clinics Reporting any significant patient concerns or abnormal findings to the GP or Nurse promptly
