Summary

This is an exciting new post for the right candidate being advertised as fixed term / secondment role until 1-Sep-2027. You will provide specialist clinical support, coordination and service improvement for the Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) pathway within the tertiary neonatal centre. You will liaise and co-ordinate with other Neonatal Units and Ophthalmology teams within the EoE to ensure timely screening and treatment.

The successful candidate needs to possess excellent adaptable communication skills and have the ability to work both autonomously and within a team. They will support the coordination of the ROP treatment pathway including referral tracking, MDT preparation and follow-up arrangements for both inpatients and outpatients requiring ROP screening and or treatment. The successful candidate will drive service improvement and clinical audit to ensure a robust and sustainable service, providing assurance to both the trust and EoE ODN regarding the ROP service. The post holder will be required to engage relevant stakeholders and collaborate regionally and nationally to develop the service and be willing to develop themselves both personally and professionally within the service. They must have a willingness to develop their clinical skills regarding screening and be prepared to potentially undertake retinal image screening independently in the future after relevant training has been undertaken. They must have an in depth understanding of risk and governance and be able to articulate this to the wider team. The post holder will be required to support the workforce and proactively be engaged with teaching related topics to both pre and post registration students.
