Summary

Applications are invited for the part-time post (0.4) of Clinical Fellow (Core) in Spinal Research  to commence as soon for a period of 12 months. 

This is a unique opportunity for a Clinical Fellow (Core ST1/2 level) with an interest in Spinal Surgery/Neurosurgery to gain more research experience and hands-on experience in the running of the day-to-day activities in a clinical trial.

The post will support the clinical and research teams in numerous spinal research trials currently open and recruiting in the department: RECEDE-Myelopathy, POLYFIX-DCM, DISTRESSED substudy, COMP-CORD, and DISCUS clinical trials.

The applicant will work with the team on the delivery of these trials, alongside a Research Nurse and oversight by seniors (PIs and CO-PIS), and will have the opportunity to be involved in any research output from the group, including audits and research publications.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at the time of application is required.

This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
