Summary

Do you have an interest in working with older people? If so we are looking for an assistant psychologist to work on the Adults Mental Health Wards in Ealing . You will work across our three wards under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. Jubilee and Meridian wards support older people with complex mental health needs including dementia while The Limes is a stepdown ward for people waiting for discharge.

The role presents opportunities to develop a wide range of clinical skills, these include working with colleagues in the provision of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy groups, delivering psycho-education sessions and working with other professional collogues in finding ways to manage the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). You may also have a role in helping people transition back to their communities. There will be opportunities to work individually with people on the wards depending on the needs of the service users.

You will therefore be involved in ensuring psychology provision is appropriate and accessible for this diverse community.

The service supports people with a wide range of difficulties. Although the psychology team works with psychological therapies with a proven evidence base, we also understand that to truly meet client needs, flexibility of approach is essential. Our service users come from a wide variety of cultures and experiences, so there is a need to adapt any therapy to the needs of the client and creativity is therefore valued. There is also an emphasis on working with staff, through supervision, training and joint working to increase psychological thinking within the team and to maximize the potential for improving the psychological well-being of all patients and carers.
