Summary

We are recruiting an experienced, motivated AHP education leader to join our corporate AHP Education Team as AHP Pre‑Registration Education Lead (Band 7). The post holder will provide Trust‑wide leadership and coordination for AHP pre‑registration education across Diagnostic Radiography, Therapeutic Radiography, Operating Department Practitioners, Orthoptists and Paramedics, supporting placement development, learner experience and quality assurance across North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

A key component of the role is being a highly visible and accessible professional presence across clinical areas to promote safe, inclusive and high‑quality learning environments, aligned to the Safe Learning Environment Charter. The post holder will use coaching approaches to support learner autonomy, strengthen supervision and assessment, and respond to themes/issues relating to learning environment quality, capacity and learner experience.

The role supports pre‑registration student placement expansion and also contributes to education pathways for apprentices, support workers and return‑to‑practice learners where relevant.

"Applications are welcomed from all eligible AHP professional groups who meet the essential criteria"

• Provide Trust‑wide leadership and coordination for AHP pre‑registration education across the relevant AHP professions, supporting consistent standards and high‑quality placement experiences.

• Work collaboratively with divisional leads, AHP service leads and the wider non‑medical education workforce to support placement quality, learner retention and workforce pipeline development.

• Promote and uphold the Safe Learning Environment Charter and learner voice, supporting AHP student engagement and responding appropriately to learner concerns (including escalation routes such as Purple Flag where applicable).

• Support the expansion and continuous improvement of clinical placements in partnership with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), ensuring effective utilisation and quality assurance.

• Contribute to Trust education and governance forums (e.g., NMEG / ELD / PEGC), providing updates on learner experience, placement quality, capacity and emerging risks.

• Support data collection, monitoring and reporting (including monthly reporting) on placement capacity, learner experience and quality indicators, providing assurance through AHP and non‑medical education governance structures.

• Line manage AHP Clinical Facilitators (as directed), supporting development of practice educators, mentors and assessors.

• Act as a visible advocate for AHP education and a professional role model, working across sites to promote a collective AHP learning culture and continuous improvement.

Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.
