The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school from September 2026. Part of a well-established Multi-Academy Trust, the school supports pupils aged 4-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school provides a highly inclusive, therapeutic, and nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across the primary and secondary curriculum.
- Encourage pupils to develop independence, communication skills, confidence, and positive relationships both inside and outside the classroom.
- Support pupils to access learning through personalised strategies that meet their academic, social, and emotional needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional regulation, resilience, positive behaviour, and engagement in learning.
- Assist pupils in developing confidence, resilience, independence, and essential life skills both inside and outside the classroom
- Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff to help adapt support strategies and intervention plans
Who We're Looking For:
- Level 3 qualification minimum and essential
- Experience working with SEN students, in either a primary or secondary setting
- A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach to supporting young people
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and students
- As a learning support assistant, you must have a clear commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
- Someone who can commit to full time hours, Monday to Friday, 8.40am - 15.40pm with the opportunity to progress into a permanent role.
