Location: Ashbourne

Working Pattern: Office-based, Monday to Friday

Working Hours: 9.00am to 5.15pm

Salary: £36,000 per annum (with scope depending on experience)

PQE Level: 0–2 years (up to 3 years considered)

Practice Area: Commercial Litigation / Business & Property Disputes

About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Junior Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join our friendly and established litigation team based in Ashbourne.

This is a fully office-based opportunity for a junior solicitor who values working closely with experienced lawyers, regular collaboration and hands-on development within a supportive team environment.

You will gain exposure to a varied and interesting caseload involving business, property, land, estates and wealth-related disputes, working alongside experienced litigators and developing the skills needed for a successful career in specialist dispute resolution.

This is not a high-volume debt recovery role. Instead, you will be involved in complex and varied disputes where you will have the opportunity to develop your technical ability, take increasing responsibility and gain genuine client exposure from an early stage.

The Work

You will work across a broad range of litigation matters, including:

• Commercial and contractual disputes

• Property and land disputes

• Estate and inheritance-related disputes

• Shareholder and partnership disputes

• Insolvency-related litigation

• Enforcement proceedings

• Injunctions and urgent interim applications

• General civil litigation and Business & Property Court matters

Every matter is different, providing variety, intellectual challenge and the opportunity to develop as a well-rounded litigator.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a bright, practical and enthusiastic solicitor who is keen to build a long-term career in litigation.

Essential:

• Qualified Solicitor (NQ–2 PQE ideally; up to 3 PQE considered)

• Some litigation experience gained during training or post-qualification

• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to take ownership of work with appropriate supervision

• Genuine interest in developing as a specialist litigator

Desirable:

• Experience running own files

• Exposure to commercial, property or civil litigation

• Experience drafting pleadings, correspondence and procedural documents

• Interest in rural, agricultural or countryside-related matters (advantageous but not essential)

We are particularly interested in candidates who are:

• Ambitious and eager to progress

• Commercially aware and practical in their approach

• Resilient, organised and proactive

• Comfortable working closely with senior lawyers

• Looking for high-quality work and long-term development

The Team

You will join a well-established litigation team comprising:

• 3 senior lawyers

• 1 junior solicitor

• 5–6 trainees across the wider firm

The firm has approximately 35 staff and offers a close-knit, supportive environment where junior lawyers receive genuine guidance and mentoring.

Working Environment

The role is office-based at our Ashbourne office, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.15pm.

Being office-based allows you to work directly with experienced lawyers, discuss matters collaboratively and benefit from regular support and development opportunities.

What We Offer

• High-quality commercial and property litigation work

• Exposure to complex and interesting disputes

• Direct support and mentoring from experienced litigators

• Early responsibility with appropriate supervision

• Clear progression opportunities

• A friendly and collaborative working environment

• A varied caseload with genuine intellectual challenge

• No billing targets or rigid fee-earning pressure

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity for a junior solicitor who wants more than routine litigation work. You will be involved in meaningful cases, develop specialist knowledge and work alongside experienced lawyers who are committed to supporting your progression.

If you are looking for a role where you can build your litigation career, gain responsibility and work on genuinely interesting matters, we would like to hear from you.
