Summary
ROLE: General Maintenance Operative - Painting and Decorating
HOURS: 40 hours per week
LOCATION: HMP Millsike, York

We're looking for a General Maintenance Operative - Painting and Decorating , who will support the delivery of painting, maintenance, and building services tasks across the prison environment.
Role Responsibilities:
-Deliver painting schedule across the prison on internal and external areas across an agreed period.
-Deliver planned and reactive maintenance, when requested, across prison fabric and building services assets.
-Complete PPM and helpdesk tasks in line with contract requirements and SHE standards.
-Liaise with engineers and subcontractors, maintaining a strong understanding of site systems and services.
Required Qualifications:
-A recognised Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in painting or building services or multi‑skilled maintenance (e.g. NVQ Level 3, C&G/BTEC, HVAC, Gas, F‑Gas, 18th Edition).
-Proven experience providing painting & decorating and/or general maintenance services within a large, complex environment.
-Practical knowledge across building services disciplines including heating, ventilation, electrical distribution, and public health systems.
Additional Requirements (Security & Vetting):
-Right to Work in the UK with valid, in‑date documentation.
-Continuous UK residency for the past 3 years, with limited overseas travel.
-Successful completion of Enhanced DBS, 5‑year referencing, and CTC vetting.
-Applicants must not be currently bankrupt.
