Summary

To be a role model for nursing staff by ensuring good and safe practice at all times. Promote and facilitate a patient centred approach to care, to set monitor and maintain standards of nursing care. Deliver specialised care in keeping with the needs and wishes of patients and their families. Provide complex wound care and dressings demonstrating current evidenced based practice in Nurse led clinics and at the request of the speciality clinicians. Work autonomously undertaking holistic assessment examination in order to implement management plans for patients in speciality nurse led clinics. To maintain clinical credibility through best practice. To utilise the findings of nursing research to optimise high quality evidence based care and to disseminate relevant information to staff. Review, develop and initiate practice development and protocol according to patient needs. Provide specialist information, advice, support and education to both patients and carers with regards to patients treatment Liaise with other health care professionals regarding the needs of patients and implement appropriate action. To provide specialist information, advice, support and education to both patients and carers with regards to patients treatment. Apply and evaluate research and development findings in nursing practice to improve the standards of care delivered. Act as a link nurse for specific aspects of clinical practice in accordance with needs of the department and personal special interests. To be accountable for own professional practice and responsible for acquiring, developing and maintaining competencies and skills. In an emergency situation the nurse will be required to respond speedily and swiftly for the patient well-being. Supporting junior staff during and after any emergency situation. To ensure the safe custody and administration of medicines in accordance with established Trust procedure and policy.
