About the role:
The Well-being officer role in the Duty and Assessment team means that you will be working with children, parents and extended family in supporting Qualified Social Worker’s to assess and provide support to families. We are a very supportive and nurturing team which helps any new starters to feel at ease and welcome. You will be expected to manage your own diary in making visits and calls with families independently to create a sense of safety for children who are in need or at risk. You will be jointly working cases with social workers and responding to the immediate need – e.g supervising contact with parents, home checks, 1:1 with children gaining wishes and feelings, supporting Social work visits, contributing to assessment write ups.
About you:
Dedicated to listening to children and making them feel valued and important.
Calm nature when presented with families who are experiencing crisis
Need to be skilled in time management and good record keeping.
To be able to work together in a team and jointly working cases intensively at times with colleagues.
To be able to work some late evenings when needed, but this is only when you are able.
What you will do:
Well-being predominantly undertake direct work with children 0- 18 and often with parents. There may be a need to provide some short pieces of intervention to help up skill parents or help children with self-esteem or personal safety. There will also be a role in speaking with partner agencies to gain or share information in line with GDPR and collating information to input into assessments. Well-being workers will support
social workers with building and monitoring safety plans with families.
This position may have a requirement for a Baseline Personnel Security check (BPSS).
