Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for your next challenge? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same?

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing logistics business specialising in bulk chemical transport across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join a professional team where you'll play a vital role in keeping operations running safely, efficiently and on schedule.

If you're someone who enjoys problem-solving, planning under pressure and making a real impact on day-to-day operations, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Transport Planner, you'll be responsible for coordinating the daily movement of bulk chemical tankers, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, legally and efficiently. Working closely with drivers, customers and internal departments, you'll be at the heart of the operation, making real-time decisions that keep the fleet moving.

You'll also provide out-of-hours support on a rotating on-call basis, helping maintain operational continuity and responding quickly when the unexpected happens.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning and coordinating daily tanker deliveries and collections across the UK.
  • Allocating vehicles and drivers while ensuring full compliance with driver hours and transport legislation.
  • Monitoring fleet movements and reacting quickly to delays, breakdowns and operational challenges.
  • Building strong relationships with drivers, customers and suppliers, providing regular updates and exceptional service.
  • Optimising routes and resources to maximise efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensuring all transport operations comply with ADR regulations, health & safety standards and company procedures.
  • Supporting incident management and emergency response procedures when required.
  • Working closely with maintenance and compliance teams to maximise fleet availability.
  • Delivering outstanding customer service while balancing multiple operational priorities.

✔ Strong understanding of UK transport legislation, including Driver Hours and the Working Time Directive.

✔ Excellent organisational and communication skills.

✔ Ability to remain calm under pressure and make confident operational decisions.

✔ Good IT skills, including experience using Transport Management Systems and Microsoft Office.

✔ Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of ADR regulations.
  • Experience planning tanker or chemical transport operations.
  • Transport Manager CPC qualification.

What's In It For You?

  • Competitive salary of £32,000-£36,000 per annum (DOE)
  • Join a respected business with a strong reputation within the transport industry.
  • A varied and rewarding role where every day brings a new challenge.
  • Opportunity to work within a supportive and experienced transport team.
  • Long-term career prospects with a stable and growing organisation.
