The Role

We’re recruiting for Senior Data Sharing Managers here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Data Sharing Hub.

As a Data Sharing Senior Manager, you will hold a fundamental position in the successful operation of the Data Sharing Hub.

This role offers you a unique opportunity to drive innovation in cross-government negotiations to share data and deliver impact. You will work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders across the Ministry of Justice and other government departments, navigating varying specialisms to support cohesive data sharing governance.

A key aspect of the role involves understanding customer requirements and helping to explore possibilities, overcoming cultural and technological barriers to data sharing. You will support the development of innovative methods to transform the way in which data sharing is conducted across the MoJ and play an integral role in the development and implementation of the Data Sharing Strategic Roadmap within the Directorate.

Please note that this is a generalist role and does not involve hands on data activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Data Sharing Leads to identify, scope and progress data sharing activities by providing guided enablement, including triage, governance advice, document review, and facilitation to ensure data sharing arrangements are lawful, secure, and effectively implemented.

Represent MoJ in negotiations between partner departments, credibly selling the vision for how data sharing can unlock tangible outcomes.

Overcome cultural reluctance to share data through sustained stakeholder engagement across a range of technical and non-technical teams to secure buy-in.

Develop a deep understanding of the data sharing governance processes to enhance stakeholder engagement and service excellence.

Deliver and maintain accurate data sharing governance documentation, such as Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs).

Take responsibility for a varied workload of complex data shares and related projects, tracking and reporting progress against objectives.

Promote the MoJ data sharing strategy and vision, while building a strong, connected community across the virtual tea, and wider stakeholders.

Act as a translator across technical and non-technical areas to ensure effective problem definition and benefits realisation.

Share insights and best practices, helping to build a culture of continuous learning and collaboration across government.

Contribute to the continued rollout of the Data Sharing Strategic Roadmap, shaping the future of data sharing across MoJ.

Person Specification

Essential

Solid understanding of data sharing governance principles, with strong attention to detail when developing and reviewing documentation.

Proven ability to deliver successful data sharing initiatives across public sector organisations, confidently navigating complex governance requirements.

Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively, plan ahead, and adapt in fast-paced environments while consistently delivering results.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships and understanding stakeholder needs to support strategic delivery.

Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for BPSS clearance
