Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract - 12 months

Are you looking for a rewarding role within an essential service?

We are seeking a full-time Switchboard Operator to join our team at Macclesfield District General Hospital.

​As a key member of the team, you will play an important role in ensuring callers are connected quickly and efficiently to the appropriate departments and services.

​Working in a busy switchboard environment, you will handle a high volume of calls and support both internal and external enquiries, including emergency calls.

​Your contribution will help ensure critical communication services continue to run smoothly and effectively across the hospital.

The Role

Answer internal and external calls in line with agreed KPI and SLA targets

Provide efficient, courteous, and professional support to all callers

Operate the hospital’s internal bleep system

Maintain and update the database of hospital personnel, departments, and contact information

Carry out administrative and clerical duties as required to support the efficient operation of the department

Be available to work public and bank holidays where shifts fall on these days, as the department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

About You

Strong communication and administrative skills

Reliable, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a team

Able to remain calm and perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable but is not essential, as full training will be provided
