An exciting opportunity has become available in the Breast Imaging department for a Trainee Female Mammographer. We are looking to recruit a conscientious,self-motivated, andenthusiastic Radiographer to embark on an exciting training programme in Breast Imaging Practice whereexperience will cover both the NHS Breast Screening Programme and symptomatic breast care. Qualified Mammographers are also welcome to apply. Salary will be based on experience.

Our friendly and dynamic Norwich Breast Unit is part of the QSI Accredited Radiology Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, being 1 in 23 Trusts in the UK who have this accreditation. The hospital has a fully integrated RIS and PACS system.

The Breast Imaging Department is based at the Norfolk and Norwich University hospital (NNUH) which is a state-of-the-art acute hospital trust on the outskirts of Norwich City.

Providing both a symptomatic and NHS breast screening service. The Breast Imaging Department consists of 2 mammography rooms equipped with Full Field Digital (FFD) technology including tomosynthesis, contrast enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) and 3 ultrasound rooms. There is a third designated FFD room for stereotactic guided biopsies which can produce 3D biopsy imaging.

We are a progressive department and aim to always be at the forefront of breast imaging developments. The Breast unit embraces the four-tier structure with Assistant Practitioners, Specialist Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners and Consultant Radiographers all being valuable members of our team. We have a lot to offer a forward thinkingproactive mammographer.

Breast Screening is based nearer Norwich city centre at the Norwich Community Hospital in a static unit accommodating 2 Mammography rooms. In addition, there is a static screening unit at the seaside in Cromer District Hospital, and 2 mobile screening vans that cover all picturesque rural Norfolk (fish and chips and an ice cream for lunch!) All equipment is full field digital technology.

It is essential that applicant hold a full clean UK driving licence to support travel to our community screening units. Please confirm this in your application.

If you are a qualified applicant, your mammography qualification must be accredited by The Society and College of Radiographers (SCOR) and recognized by the NHS Breast Screening Programme. UK ENIC is the national agency that carries out recognition and comparison of international qualifications and skills against UK requirements.

• Ensure a high standard of professionalism and patient care within their work area. This includes appropriate communication with patients providing reassurance and obtaining the patients confidence and co-operation to obtain the required diagnostic images.

• Liaise with the department leads regarding equipment maintenance and faults, ensuring that the correct documentation is completed.

• To take delegated responsibility for legislation pertaining to Health & Safety, Ionising Radiation Regulations and procedures for ceasing screening when equipment fails to perform to quality and safety standards, or woman withdraws consent.

• To maintain professional standards according to the registration criteria as defined by HCPC and Code of Conduct of the College of Radiographers.

• To take part in any audit and research projects being undertaken within the directorate

• To demonstrate skill in adapting technique to achieve high quality diagnostic imaging for patients whose condition would otherwise prevent this, without compromising care, this involves frequent dealing with patients who are in pain and distress, and claustrophobic patients.

• To ensure that all the appropriate documentation for each patient is accurately completed according to departmental protocols and adhere to the data protection act. Correctly record all radiographic images where appropriate on the Radiology PACS system.

• Liaise with clinicians, ward staff and patients concerning preparation for imaging and patient management, ensuring that the patient pathway operates effectively.
