Summary

This role comprises a 40:60 split between Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate lead role and clinical respiratory medicines management services.

60% Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Respiratory to provide a comprehensive Respiratorymedicines management service to Evelina and liaison with primaryand community care colleagues.

40% to develop, deliver and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) Directorate in accordance with the objectives set by the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacistin close liaison withthe Consultants pharmacists. To train, develop and assess competence of pharmacists working within paediatrics. To act as a role model in the Paediatric pharmacy field and provide a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service for Paediatrics in line with corporate objectives and NHS Plan

Leadership

To lead with a focus on the operational delivery of clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to CRIC Services to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs in these patients.

Management of service

To enable the safe provision of clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to Cardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory service to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in these patients

Evaluation of Service

To monitor clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to theCardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory service to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in these patients.

Clinical Practice

To act as a clinical role model for Paediatric pharmacists and demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs in these patients

• Demonstrates expert clinical knowledge in Paediatrics particularly respiratory medicine

Research and Development

To develop and deliver on the Research & Development Agenda surrounding Paediatric Medicines Management withinCardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Paediatric Respiratory service in liaison with the Consultant pharmacists

Evaluation of Service

To monitor clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to theCardiac, Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and the Respiratory servicein accordance with the objectives set by the post holder andClinical Services Lead Pharmacistin close liaison withthe Consultants pharmacistsin order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in these patients.

• Help ensure that the quality of the Paediatric pharmacy services is recognised as a leader in the national field in line with the corporate objectives

• To evaluate the contributions of the Paediatric pharmacists to the directorate

• To ensure departmental standards are met

• To undertake clinical audit as part of the multi-disciplinary audit process

• To undertake assessments / evaluations as required

Clinical Practice

To act as a clinical role model for Paediatric pharmacists and demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient use of drugs in these patients

• Demonstrates expert clinical knowledge in Paediatrics particularly respiratory medicine

• To prescribe in the area of Paediatrics under Independent Prescribing Legislation (if required by the service)

• To follow legal, ethical, professional and employers’ codes of conduct

• To plan, manage, monitor and review therapeutic programmes

• To develop recognition as a national expert within the speciality of paediatric clinical pharmacy and paediatric respiratory medicine

• To enhance the quality of patient care

• To manage difficult and ambiguous problems
