The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Business has an international reputation for excellent teaching and topical research, particularly in addressing global challenges in energy, the environment, technology, forensic science and infrastructure.

With its award winning Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID), and departments in engineering, computing, physics and mathematics, the Faculty offers a portfolio of disciplines and curriculums and state of the art facilities which prepare and inform the scientists and engineers of tomorrow. The Faculty is run by an enthusiastic, committed and approachable team of experts who are recognised for their teaching approaches.

We are looking for a candidate with a track record of excellence in teaching and scholarship/knowledge exchange in archaeology or forensic archaeology with experience of teaching either archaeology or forensic archaeology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop innovative approaches to teaching, to link with other academics in the Centre, Faculty and University to develop scholarship activities, to supervise PGR students, as well as research projects for students at both undergraduate and taught MSc levels.

Your priorities will include:

  • Carry out teaching and supervision at postgraduate and undergraduate level to a variety of students (forensic archaeology, forensic anthropology) in relevant subjects (forensic archaeology), including contributing to curriculum design, enhancement of the student learning experience and scholarship
  • Develop innovative approaches to teaching
  • Contribute to excellence in research-led teaching in forensic archaeology that complements existing strengths and resources in the Centre
  • Contribute to the Faculty's academic and pastoral support for undergraduate and postgraduate students

Who we're looking for:

  • Substantial knowledge and practical experience of archaeology or forensic archaeology.
  • Teaching or demonstrating experience at university (or equivalent) level
  • Understanding of current developments in operational practice and research
  • Demonstrated project management and line management skills
  • Clear evidence of excellence in learning and teaching, and innovation in teaching methods
  • Willingness to engage with national and international student recruitment
