About The Role
We are seeking a Governance Advisor (Behaviour & Panels) to provide high-quality governance, administrative, and organizational support across the Trust. This is a unique and impactful role. Alongside traditional clerking duties—such as preparing agendas, minuting board meetings, and advising on statutory compliance—you will act as the Trust’s primary administrative point of contact for Permanent Exclusion (PX) and Behaviour Panels. You will handle highly sensitive documentation, liaise with vulnerable families during challenging times, and ensure that all panels are legally robust and strictly compliant with statutory timelines.
Key Responsibilities
PX & Behaviour Panel Support Panel Coordination: Provide end-to-end administrative and organisational support to schedule and run day-to-day PX and behaviour panels across all Trust academies.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the face and voice of the service, communicating sensitively and effectively via phone, email, and face-to-face with school leaders, external agencies, and parents/carers.
Pack Preparation: Securely collate, package, and distribute highly confidential evidence packs to panel members and families within strict statutory deadlines.
Panel Minuting: Attend formal panels to take independent, accurate, and legally robust minutes of proceedings, deliberations, and outcomes.
Data Management: Maintain complex student behaviour and governance databases to track panel outcomes and produce detailed management reports for the Executive Team.
Core Governance & Clerking Duties Meeting Administration: Support Chairs and Headteachers in preparing agendas; distribute official papers in line with the Trust’s Articles of Association.
Compliance & Records: Ensure meetings are quorate, maintain up-to-date governor records (terms of office, training logs, pecuniary interests), and track DBS/statutory compliance checks.
Minute Taking: Draft clear, concise minutes for governing boards and committees, tracking action points and timescales to ensure accountability.
