Summary

We are the Environment Agency, and working in partnership with government, local authorities, businesses, and communities we tackle the impacts of climate change and manage the assets that protect Central London from flooding.

This role sits within the core security team at the Thames Barrier. You'll help deliver and continuously improve the administration of internal security and risk across our assets in a complex and demanding environment, assessing risks to the Thames Tidal Defences to protect our staff, critical infrastructure, and the public we serve.

Purpose of the Role

• Provide auditing and assurance of local security procedures and site protocols

• Oversight of staff and contractor access to physical sites, EA data, security vetting administration and government document classifications

• Development and delivery of security culture improvements, including initial inductions for staff and contractors, followed by ongoing training and assessment

• Financial management of key contracts and team spending

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake auditing and assurance of existing security procedures and protocols, keeping records of findings, and producing reports for the TTD security team to analyse and act upon.

• Manage the staff and contractor access to both physical sites and data, keeping records for personnel with clearance, what they have access to (sites and information) and maintain effective access controls accordingly

• Manage all new vetting applications in liaison with the government security clusters

• Create and develop a series of education induction modules as well as ongoing training and assessment to be delivered to team leaders, staff and contractors. Hold records of training and assess impact on cultural improvements

• Contribute to the effective planning and delivery of security contracts

The team

Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) is central to the Environment Agency’s work. The site-based security team plays a vital role in ensuring the continued operation of the Thames Tidal Defences, helping to protect people and property from flooding. We sit within the Local Operations Directorate.
