Working Hours: Between Monday to Friday, any time between 7.15am - 9am and 2.45pm - 6.15pm (Please still apply if you are only

able to cover some/all of these days/times)

Contract Type: Casual

Work Base: Multi site, Amber Valley (currently Alfreton Christ the King, Ripley St Johns and Belper Long Row). If you are able to

travel to either one or all of these, please still apply!

Job Description

Purpose & Scope

To help support a safe, caring, and enriching out-of-school club environment in which children can enjoy healthy food, stimulating

activities and be made to feel welcome and cared for by a dedicated staff team. 

This will include working with the Out of School Club Manager in:

1. The effective and smooth operation of the breakfast/after school club, with the needs and interests of the child as the first

priority.

2. Maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment for the attending children.

3. Ensuring that the club is served by accurate and up-to-date record keeping. 

4. Reporting concerns and safeguarding /child protection concerns to the Out of School Club Coordinator.

5. Maintaining communication with the Out of School Club Coordinator, and with the Head of Children and Families Outreach when

required. Including reporting safeguarding/child protection concerns.

6. Ensuring the club is run in accordance with Valley CiDS policies, procedures, and ethos.

7. Diligently ensuring that children enjoy a safe and nurturing environment in which all risks are eradicated or minimised and

managed at a satisfactory level.

 Specific Duties & Responsibilities  

1. To follow the directives of the club manager in order to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children, with

creative and appropriate play opportunities.

2. To help supervise all club activities (including monitoring attendance, set up and pack down) and the children (including

behavioural and emotional needs, first aid). 

3. To help with planning and preparation for sessions as required.

4. To serve healthy meals meeting food hygiene regulations.

5. To keep accurate records of accident/injury reports and safeguarding when required.

6. To develop and maintain a good working relationship with school staff, parents, and carers, ensuring clear communications

concerning children accessing the clubs.

7. To adhere to all relevant organisational and departmental policies. This includes but is not limited to, Safeguarding, Health

and Safety, Data Protection, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Whistle Blowing. 

8. To attend training events as required (which may include during school holidays in agreement with your line manager),

attending one to one meeting with your line manager on an agreed date in the school holidays.

9. To undertake any other duties, compatible with the role, that are required.

10. On occasion be prepared to rotate and/or cover other Zest clubs in the local area.

Person Specification

Essential

* Can embrace and uphold the ethos, vision, and values of Valley CIDS at all times.

* Able to work effectively as part of a team, whilst also being able to use own initiative when needed.

* Ability to work well under pressure, following manager directions as part of a team.

* Committed to the importance of equality, equity, diversity & inclusion when working with children and colleagues.

* Able to deliver a range of appropriate children’s activities (and plan on occasion).

* Highly motivated, innovative, and resourceful.

Desirable

* Previous experience of having worked in a childcare or educational setting.

* Safeguarding/Child Protection

* Food Hygiene Level 2

* Paediatric First Aid
