Summary

Autism Room Lead (KS1) – Long-term temporary and ongoing, full-time starting September 2026

This is a highly regarded primary school in Southgate that was judged Outstanding in its most recent Ofsted inspection. Inspectors recognised the school's exceptional provision and commitment to ensuring all pupils flourish both academically and personally.

The school caters for children aged 3-11 and benefits from a dedicated SEND resource provision supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Duties as Autism Room Lead:

  • Leading daily provision within the KS1 Autism Room
  • Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder and associated needs
  • Delivering structured learning activities and interventions
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and support staff
  • Supporting communication, sensory regulation, and social development
  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to EHCP targets
  • Creating a calm, nurturing, and highly structured learning environment

Ideal Autism Room Lead:

  • Previous experience working with children with ASD
  • Experience within an SRP, SEND Unit, or specialist provision is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of autism-friendly strategies and interventions
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and support a team effectively
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
