Summary
A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) supports nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to patients. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, monitoring patients' wellbeing, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and helping to ensure patients are comfortable and treated with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting patients with personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting.
Supporting patients with eating, drinking, and mobility.
Monitoring and recording observations such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure (where trained).
Assisting nurses with clinical and administrative tasks.
Maintaining accurate patient records and reporting any changes in a patient's condition.
Ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment.
Providing emotional support and promoting patients' independence and wellbeing.
Following infection control, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures at all times.
