Summary

Plant Operator

We're looking for an experienced Plant Operator to join a Waste-to-Energy facility based in Skelton.

This role involves monitoring and operating plant equipment, carrying out routine inspections, responding to faults, and ensuring the plant runs safely and efficiently. You'll work both in the control room and out on the plant, supporting the day-to-day operation of the site.

Salary: Up to £40,000 per year

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Shift Work

Duties

• Operating and monitoring plant equipment and systems.

• Carrying out routine inspections and reporting any faults.

• Responding to alarms and operational issues.

• Assisting with plant start-ups and shutdowns.

• Completing shift reports and operational records.

• Working closely with maintenance teams during repairs and planned outages.

• Following all health, safety, and environmental procedures.

• Maintaining good housekeeping standards across the site.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Plant Operator, Process Operator, Shift Operator, or similar.

• Experience within power generation, waste-to-energy, biomass, manufacturing, chemical, or heavy industrial environments.

• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.

• Ability to work shifts.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.

Desirable

• Experience working with boilers, turbines, steam systems, or process plant equipment.

• Knowledge of SCADA or DCS systems.

• Relevant engineering or process operations qualifications.
