I am a positive and friendly woman in my 40s with MS. I live with my son and our pet cat in Climping. I am looking for a female PA with a similar outlook on life as me to help me lead an independent life.

I am a power wheelchair user and use a hoist to transfer, so knowledge and experience would be necessary. I am very independent and like to do as much as I can and be involved.

I am a friendly person with a good sense of humour. I like to see the brighter side of life and look at the positives no matter how difficult things get. I am very much a glass half full kind of person and strongly believe that where there is a will, there is a way!

I am looking for PAs to join my existing team of 3 other PAs who you would be working with as a team and supporting one another with shift covers when necessary whilst assisting me.

Duties of the role include assistance with personal care such as showering, dressing, hair care, oral hygiene, stoma and catheter care, medication prompting, and evening bedtime routines. You will also help with preparing meals and drinks, laundry, cleaning, changing bedding, shopping, paperwork, and supporting exercise or physio routines. Some assistance with outings and correspondence may also be required.

I have a variety of shifts and hours available, so please apply with your availability and with what you can do.

Duties include:

- Medication prompting/administering

- Personal grooming

- Eating and drinking assistance

- Other relevant duties as required

- Administration

- Companionship

- Dressing / undressing

- Bathroom assistance

- Catheter care - changing bag and emptying.

- Stoma care, this will usually just be emptying but on the odd occasion it might need to be changed.

Candidate qualities:

- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality

- Reliable with good timekeeping

- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative

- Hygienic, tidy and well organised

- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties

- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills

- Honest and cheerful

- Creative

- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard

- Must be comfortable with pets

- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

- A good sense of humour

- Able to work efficiently

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required. If the role is offered on a self-employed basis, you will be responsible for the cost of your own DBS check.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer.
