Summary
Key Tasks : · At all times to maintain effective communication and liaison with the Crown Care Group home manager / deputy manager to ensure the smooth, safe, effective, responsive and caring operation of the care home. · To respect the dignity of the individual and promote independence. · To be responsible for the management of the unit, including the deployment and supervision of staff throughout the 24-hour day · The assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of written care plans. · To set and monitor standards of care within the framework of the home’s philosophies and goals and statement of purpose. · To set out and ensure the effective administration of policies and procedures within the Crown Care Group home. · To greet visitors and professionals, answering the door and phone and ensure enquiries are captured effectively and that management are aware of out of hours enquiries. · To support with assessments where required

Compliance
· To comply with the Health and Social Care (Safety and Quality) Act 2015, including NICE guidelines, fire safety regulations, COSHH regulations, RIDDOR, food safety, first aid, moving and handling regulations and regulatory requirements for medical equipment and devices.
· To respect the confidentiality of all matters relating to the business of the care home and in relation to the service users and their family and friends.
· To ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times.
· To ensure the standards of the Care Quality Commission and Local Authorities are met and to support the home to achieve a minimum of “Good” CQC rating by administering medication as per policy and reporting any concerns to management and via the Accident and Incident procedure
· To be responsible for ordering, receipt, disposal and accurately administering medication and the maintenance of medication records. To check CD medications weekly reporting any discrepancies to the Home Manager
· To complete all training as required, including attendance at staff meetings and daily flash meetings as required
· To ensure resident needs are being met and care plan documentation is completed as per policy. To report any concerns to management without delay.
· To oversee care staff on each shift to ensure that each shift runs smoothly and that staff are completing documentation as planned
· To identify any risks to customers/staff and report immediately to management
· To fully comply with all Crown Care Group home policies and procedures.
· At all times to uphold and promote the privacy, dignity, independence, safety and welfare of all services users
· To ensure Quality Assurance documentation is completed as per the Crown Care Group quality framework audit tool.
· To take responsibility for the maintenance of your own professional development and to utilise this knowledge within the scope of your role.
· To display a professional attitude and encourage professional relationships with all grades of staff, residents and relatives
Staff Management
· To supervise the staff team on shift, allocating tasks appropriately
· To support new staff members with induction to ensure that they feel welcome and supported
· To complete supervisions and appraisals with allocated care staff and also as needs arise
· To be a role model and set standards, provide feedback on progress, maintain staff discipline and identify and support staff with any areas of improvement
· To support with rota planning ensuring adequate staffing provision on a day to day basis, taking appropriate action at times of staff shortages.
· To be responsible for leading, developing, supporting and educating the staff teams to maintain good working relationship.
· To encourage staff to contribute ideas to continuously improve the services of the Crown Care Group home.
Residential Care
· To contribute to the effective operation of the unit by providing first class care to the resident
· To be responsible for communication and liaison with each resident’s GP, appraising them of the resident’s condition when on duty and documenting and acting upon any changes (and involve your line manager).
· To maintain effective communication with all service users, their families and legal representatives and professional representatives (e.g. social workers, community psychiatric nurses, therapists, dieticians, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, tissue viability specialists etc.).
· To maintain care records ensuring evaluations take place monthly and reviews six monthly
· To ensure charts are completed as directed e.g. food/ fluid/ repositioning
Additional Responsibilities
· Assume responsibility for undertaking any work related training, professional updates and compliance with requirements
