Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are working with a well-established and welcoming educational setting in the heart of Consett that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in helping pupils with additional needs access learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals. Working alongside teachers, therapists, and other professionals, you'll contribute to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where every learner can thrive.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them engage in learning while promoting their independence, wellbeing, and personal development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
- Supporting the implementation of individual learning and support plans.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to meet pupils' individual needs.
- Delivering targeted interventions and reinforcing classroom learning.
- Adapting resources and learning activities to support different learning styles and abilities.
- Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records.
- Promoting inclusion and encouraging pupils to participate fully in school life.
- Building positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, confident, and supported.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND within an educational or similar setting.
- Has a good understanding of effective SEND strategies and inclusive classroom practice.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping pupils succeed.
- Communicates confidently and works well as part of a collaborative team.
- Is organised and able to maintain accurate records.
- Is confident using digital learning resources and assistive technology where appropriate.
- Holds a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support, or related qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Competitive daily rate of £100 per day.
