We have an exciting opportunity to join our Day Surgery Unit at Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot.

Our Day Surgery Unit consists of 22 individual Day Case patient pods .

We are open 6 days a week 07-00 -22-00 Monday to Saturday.

Shifts we be a mixture of 07:00-19:00 or 10:00-22:00

The care you give to patients will be compassionate, caring, and high quality.

You will recognise your abilities and limitations of your competence and only carry out those tasks for which you are trained.

As a member of the ward team you will support the other staff, act in the best interest of patients and treat everyone with respect.

Please note this is a front facing clinical role where a high level of spoken and written English language is required. Please do not use AI software for completion of your application for this role.

You currently must be in the UK and have current experience of working in a UK Healthcare setting as an HCA.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will work under direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse/Nursing Associate. You will be primarily assisting the nursing team with care of the patients and will facilitate the smooth running of the department.

As a member of the ward/department team you will always support clinically your registrant colleagues and act in the best interest of patients. With this role we expect that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and values others’ beliefs whilst delivering clinical care. This is a clinical front facing role where excellent customer care skills are expected to be delivered to patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.

Some of the core requirements for the role include:

• Provide excellent customer care skills to ensure patients come first.

• Undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties to deliver agreed plans of care, acting on own initiative.

• Mentor and support new to care and Health Care Support Workers on the care certificate and to be a ‘buddy’ to any new starters.

• To ensure that patients’ receive high quality clinical care and experience an excellent patient experience whilst using our Trust services, respecting customs, and religious beliefs at all times.

• Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of the individuals.

• To act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.

• Provide support and assistance to professionals in the implementation of plans of care for individual patients.

• Assist with fluid and dietary needs of patients including thickening fluids (as directed by dietician/care plan), recording intake and output of fluids and solids consumed.

• As directed, collect specimens from patients and record all vital signs of a patients. These could include routine observations of weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation levels. Report any abnormalities and concerns to a Registered Nurse.

• Recognise when patients are in pain and discomfort and report to a designated registrant Nurse/AHP of a patient
