Summary

We are seeking compassionate and motivatedHealthcare Assistants (HCAs)to join our inpatient mental health teams at theOleaster, with opportunities available acrossTazetta, Caffra, Magnolia and Melisa suites.

In this role, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals experiencing acute mental health needs, supporting their recovery and promoting independence within a safe and therapeutic environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assist with daily care, engage patients in meaningful activities, and monitor their wellbeing, ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will:

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with individual care plans

• Support patients with daily living activities, including personal care where required

• Promote dignity, respect, and independence at all times

• Observe, monitor, and record patient behaviour, reporting any changes to registered staff

• Engage patients in therapeutic activities to support recovery

• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive ward environment

• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, and other professionals

• Support the management of challenging behaviours in a safe and appropriate way

• Adhere to Trust policies, infection control, and safeguarding procedures

This role requires a flexible approach to working hours. You will be expected to work a full range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, in line with service needs. While you will be primarily allocated to one ward, there may be occasions where you are required to work across any of the wards to support safe staffing levels and ensure the safety and continuity of patient care.
