An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Night Veterinary Surgeon to join an award-winning independent veterinary practice in Wirral, Merseyside. Due to continued growth, the practice is expanding its dedicated out-of-hours team and is looking for a compassionate, confident, and clinically strong vet to join them.

• Ventilator cases (regularly managed overnight)

• Referral-level diagnostics and treatment plans

• Complex medical and surgical cases

You’ll work alongside an experienced night vet team, with plans to expand to a team of three as the hospital continues to grow.

Referral-Level Support & Clinical Development

The practice is home to RCVS Advanced Practitioners in:

• Surgery

• Cardiology

• Small Animal Practice

Alongside a Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine, making this a fantastic environment for continued learning and professional development.

Whether you hold an ECC certificate or simply have a strong interest in emergency and critical care veterinary medicine, you’ll benefit from an experienced and collaborative team.

The Role – Night Veterinary Surgeon

As a Night Vet, you’ll work a highly desirable:

5 nights on / 10 nights off rota

A 7 on / 14 off pattern can also be considered for the right candidate, providing excellent flexibility and work-life balance.

This position would suit a vet confident with:

• Sole charge responsibilities

• Emergency consultations

• Critical care management

• Overnight inpatient care

• Fast-paced clinical decision making

About You

To be considered for this Veterinary Surgeon job in Merseyside, you will ideally have:

3–5+ years’ small animal veterinary experience

• Experience working in a busy hospital or ECC setting

• A strong interest in Emergency & Critical Care (ECC)

• Confidence working sole charge overnight

• Excellent communication and clinical skills

• A passion for delivering outstanding patient and client care

An ECC certificate holder would be advantageous but is not essential.
