Summary

Occupational Health and Wellbeing Nurse Advisor – Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate registered nurse to join the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to specialise within Occupational Health in a supportive, experienced team environment. The successful applicant will undertake a structured training and development framework, enabling them to achieve the required competencies and deliver the full scope of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Nurse Advisor role with confidence and autonomy. The post will be primarily based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, with flexibility to work across other Occupational Health units within the Trust as required.

To work within the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team to deliver a high‑quality service to colleagues across University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.

To provide a comprehensive Occupational Health nursing service in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, following standard operating procedures and supporting SEQOHS standards while upholding Trust values.

To support the NHS People Plan and People Promise by promoting colleague health, wellbeing, and engagement.

To assist the Head of Department in maintaining high standards of care and continuous service improvement.

To undertake pre‑employment health assessments in line with Trust policies, ensuring appropriate colleague placement.

To support immunisation and vaccination programmes, ensuring safe storage, handling, and administration in line with guidelines.

To provide a visible and approachable presence across clinical areas, offering advice, guidance, and support.

To engage in place‑based work across Trust sites, delivering targeted health promotion initiatives.

To contribute to proactive wellbeing strategies focused on prevention and early intervention.

To maintain confidentiality and accurate record‑keeping.

To provide advice and follow‑up for blood-borne virus exposure incidents.

To offer emotional support to service users and support Trust-wide vaccination programmes, including influenza.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
