Luma Education Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading specialist SEN school with multiple sites across Greater Manchester, seeking compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their growing teams.

These permanent opportunities are ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors and Learning Support Assistants, as well as Psychology graduates and graduates from related disciplines looking to begin a rewarding career in specialist education.

No previous school experience is essential if you have the right attitude, a genuine passion for supporting young people and a desire to make a lasting difference.

About the Role

You'll work closely with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and pastoral staff, you'll play a key role in creating a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment where every pupil can succeed.

You may support pupils with:

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

ADHD

Attachment and trauma-related needs

Behaviour that challenges

Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties

Moderate learning difficulties

Your Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day.

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.

Encourage confidence, resilience and independence.

Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.

Help create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.

Record pupil progress and contribute to individual support plans.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams.
