Band 5 £32,073 - £39,043 per annum, pro rata if Part time

Hours 37.5 per week all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

We are delighted to offer an opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Theatre Practitioners (Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners) to join our dynamic and supportive Theatre Department.

This is a particularly exciting time to join the Trust, as we are expanding our surgical services with the opening of a brand-new Surgical Hub, which will include two state-of-the-art orthopaedic theatres. This development will enhance our elective capacity, improve patient flow, and support excellence in surgical care.

We are seeking enthusiastic Band 6 theatre practitioners with current NMC/HCPC registration, who will play a key role in delivering safe, high quality perioperative care withing a multidisciplinary team.

You will take on a leadership role within the perioperative team, supporting the safe delivery of safe, effective and high-quality patient while contributing to service development.

You will play an important part in developing the team and embedding best practice across our expanding theatre service.

You will have significant experience within anaesthetics and recovery, demonstrate leadership potential or experience within a theatre setting, have excellent communication and organizational skills and be adaptable and able to work in a faced paced environment.

Key responsibilities will include, coordinating and supporting the smooth running of the department, acting as a clinical role model, demonstrating high standards of perioperative practice, support and supervise junior members of staff, and new team members, promote patient safety, quality improvement and governance initiatives, and working across anaesthetics and recovery. This post is internal rotation and includes taking part in an on call rota and out-of-hour shifts, including nights and twilights.

Clinical:

• Assess, develop, implement and evaluate patient care when receiving the patient into the theatre environment, whilst supporting the patient through invasive procedures and during handover at the completion of the anaesthetic/surgical procedure.

• Prepare, assemble and check theatre and anaesthetic equipment, planning and organising their own time. Ensuring the provision of equipment and stock for procedures planned. Assist senior staff in forward planning of theatre stock as directed Rotating stock as necessary and notify senior members of staff when applicable.

Quality:

• Follow directorate and trust policies that impact on the role.

• Occasionally being involved in hospital audits and clinical trials

Education:

• Mentoring & teaching of unqualified staff

• Take own responsibility to attend mandatory training and participate in Trust Personal Development Review Program

Managerial Responsibilities:

• Act as a role model to other staff and demonstrate specialist knowledge

• Supervision of HCA's, junior staff and less experienced staff with our clinical areas
