Summary
Senior Respiratory Physiologist (Band 6)
Due to increased demand and service expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised, enthusiastic and caring Physiologist to join our team.
Alongside lung function tests the service provides Sleep apnoea screening. Experience with respiratory polygraphy would be advantageous. There will be training and development opportunities within the Sleep service.
You must be able to provide evidence of continuing professional development and have experience in a wide range of diagnostic respiratory investigations including plethysmography.
This post offers the opportunity to expand your skills in service delivery and quality assurance by deputising for the chief physiologist in her absence.
Ideal applicants will have a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification and have successfully completed ARTP Professional exams or have equivalent competency exams as well as experience in a respiratory department. You should be registered or actively seeking registration on the ACHS.
Applicants who require further training and development, or those who are working towards gaining the qualification required may be considered at a lower grade.

To work in cooperation with the Lead Respiratory Physiologist and Respiratory Consultants, as part of the team that provides a timely, efficient, high quality, equitable and cost effective Respiratory Physiology Service to Croydon Health Services NHS Trust.
Work as an autonomous specialist in the field of respiratory physiology undertaking a range of clinical diagnostic procedures in the lung function lab, ward, and outpatient areas. Having completed BSc Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent degree as well as undertaken substantial placements in all routine testing. Working to national standards published by BTS and ARTP. Help manage the provision of outpatient respiratory polygraphy and provide timely reports feedback and advice to medics and nursing staff.
Provide training and support to junior staff including HCA and Apprentices, as well as provide demonstrations to medical and nursing students as required.
Actively involved in service developments and deputise for the Chief Respiratory Physiologists.
We are seeking someone experienced and fully autonomous, with the ability to work under pressure, and prioritize your individual workload, as well as be able to work effectively within a team and support development of junior staff
The successful candidate will rostered to work initially at Croydon University Hospital site, with rotation to Purley War Memorial Hospital and New Addington diagnostic centers.
Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.
CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home birthing team.
Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.
Our experienced district nursing teams, Allied Health Professionals and community matrons look after for people of all ages across Croydon and our Children’s Hospital at Home cares for children with long-term
conditions without them having to come to hospital.
