The Role:

Mobile Plant Fitters at Jones Bros Ruthin (Civil Engineering) Co. Ltd play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our

Fitters work closely with Site Agents, Works Managers, Engineers, and Plant Co-ordinators to minimise downtime and ensure safe,

efficient project delivery.

Jones Bros Mobile Plant Fitters are instrumental in ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and performance across our projects.

Their skills and dedication contribute directly to the successful delivery of high-quality civil engineering works.

What You’ll Be Doing:

•    Carry out routine maintenance checks on plant machinery to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.

•    Diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

•    Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work completed, including parts used and hours worked.

•    Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and emergency repair requirements, both on-site and at depots.

•    Work collaboratively with Plant Co-ordinators, Site Agents, and Works Managers to prioritise and plan maintenance tasks.

•    Comply at all times with health and safety legislation and company procedures.

•    Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised working environment, including mobile service vehicles and any workshop areas.

•    Offer basic instruction and support to plant operators on the safe and effective use of machinery.

•    Support depot-based plant teams during fleet maintenance, mobilisation, and decommissioning.

What We Are Looking For:

•    Proven experience as a plant fitter, mobile service engineer, or similar, ideally within the construction or civil

engineering sector.

•    Strong technical knowledge of heavy plant, diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

•    Relevant trade qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent).

•    Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced, site-based environment.

•    Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach.

•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working effectively with site teams.

•    Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel between project sites when required.
