Split: 0.4wte Paddock special school, 0.2wte Wandsworth resource base 0.4wte Commissioned service

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a split post between our Special schools, resource base and commissioned service. These teams are part of the wider Children's therapies  team,  a supportive and dynamic team  with many  professional development opportunities.

This post offers a unique opportunity to develop a wide repertoire of clinical skills.

• Experience of, and specialist skills working with, a diverse paediatric caseload 

• Experience in developing and delivering universal and / or targeted level offers, preferably within  special schools and/or mainstream  schools

• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team

• Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary

• Enthusiasm, imagination, and initiative

The role will encompass supervision and and support of junior speech and language therapists as well as speech and language therapy assistants. The post holder will also support the development and evaluation of service delivery.

• To undertake specialist paediatric assessment of children/students on own caseload, who may have complex presentations and from this assessment to formulate a treatment plan and carry out this treatment as an autonomous practitioner.

• To work closely with teaching staff, parents/carers and other MDT members to support each pupil.

• To supervise and support undergraduate students, and be involved in teaching MDT staff as well as those from other agencies.

• To support the implementation of evidence-based projects, including making recommendations for change in practice and participating in departmental research and audit as appropriate.
