Summary
To work as an experienced occupational therapist within a well established community neuro team.
• Wandsworth Community Neuro Team provides specialist multi disciplinary assessment, treatment/rehabilitation, disability management advice and information to adults with a wide variety of complex, permanent, progressive and non-progressive neurological conditions.
• The team comprises of Clinical and Operational Lead, Administrative Assistants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Neuropsychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Neuronavigator, Dietician and Therapy Assistant Practitioners.
· To be responsible for the management of a caseload of adults with a wide range of neurological disorders offering specialist community and out-patient rehabilitation.
· To assess own caseload of patients including those with a complex and highly complex social, psychological, communication, and cognitive presentation, make a diagnosis, and to develop and deliver individualised Occupational Therapy treatment programmes using evidence based practice, working towards client’s goals. This often involves working as a lone clinician.
· To be responsible for line managing and clinically supervising Band 6 Occupational Therapists, as well as providing clinical education to students on placement.
· To take a key role in the future development of the multi disciplinary service.
· To work as an autonomous practitioner within the standards of professional practice laid down by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and Healthcare Professions Council, and be developing increasing responsibility for leading others and the Service, whilst themselves participating in regular supervision.
