Summary
We are looking for a caring, reliable and energetic personal assistant to support two young boys within the Rutherglen area, Flynn and Max, to enjoy safe, meaningful and fun experiences at home and in the community. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, calm and confident in supporting children with additional needs.
Flynn is a fun-loving, cheeky and funny 5-year-old who enjoys climbing, running, playing and all things Disney. He can find changes to routine difficult and benefits from support that is calm, structured and reassuring.
Max is an energetic, sweet and active 7-year-old who enjoys outdoor walks, parks, physical play, Disney and learning on his tablet. He benefits from support that helps him regulate his emotions, feel safe and enjoy activities that match his interests and energy.
Main responsibilities include:
• Supporting both boys with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting and daily routines as required
• Using calm, consistent and reassuring approaches to support emotional regulation and reduce distress
• Supporting communication using simple language and visual tools such as PECS where appropriate
• Planning and taking part in enjoyable activities such as park visits, outdoor walks, physical play and other child-centred outings
• Maintaining safety at all times, including close supervision and responding appropriately when either child becomes upset or dysregulated
• Following family routines and supporting transitions in a predictable and positive way
We are looking for someone who is:
• Friendly, patient, calm and dependable
• Confident supporting children with additional support needs
• Able to provide structure, consistency and safe boundaries in a kind and respectful way
• Comfortable supporting personal care and daily living tasks
• Willing to learn and follow guidance around communication, routines, safety and de-escalation
• Knowledge of safeguarding, PECS or supporting emotional regulation would be an advantage
• A driver is preferable but not essential.
Hours of work
16 Hrs per week
Days and Times
Hours will include a mixture of after-school, school holiday and occasional weekend support.
• School term: After-school support Monday to Friday over 4 days, from 4pm to 7pm or 5pm to 8pm
• Non-term time: 2 x 8-hour shifts or 3 x 5.5-hour shifts, to be negotiated with the employer
Hourly rate
£14.45 per hour
