Summary
A lovely family based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, is seeking an experienced Nanny-Housekeeper to help care for their two young children and support the smooth running of their home.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience and will be confident caring for a 21-month-old toddler and a 4-year-old pre-schooler. Someone warm, reliable, and able to build a strong relationship with the children would be ideal, as the role has the potential to become full-time in the future.
The nanny-housekeeper will be responsible for supervising the children, supporting their safety, well-being, and development, and planning age-appropriate activities. The role will also include supporting early literacy and language development for the toddler, as well as helping the 4-year-old with reading.
Housekeeping duties will include keeping family living areas clean and organised, maintaining the kitchen, organising the children’s bedrooms and play areas, and helping with laundry and ironing. A driver would be a bonus, but this is not essential.
The family may also require ad hoc babysitting around once a month. They are also looking for summer holiday cover, but this can be discussed with the right candidate.
Working hours: Friday, 9:30 to 18:30, plus a flexible second day on a weekday or weekend. Around 16 hours per week.
Duties include:
caring for a 21-month-old toddler and a 4-year-old pre-schooler
ensuring the children’s safety, well-being, and development
maintaining the children’s daily routines, including naps, meals, and activities
planning stimulating play, arts and crafts, educational games, and outdoor activities
supporting early literacy, language development, and reading
encouraging confidence, independence, and good behaviour
accompanying the children to local activities, outings, and appointments
preparing lunch for the child, if required
keeping the kitchen clean and tidy
loading and unloading the dishwasher
wiping down surfaces
organising the children’s bedrooms, playrooms, and belongings
hoovering, dusting, and carrying out light cleaning duties
managing family laundry and ironing
helping maintain the home to a high standard
providing occasional ad hoc babysitting when needed
The family is looking for someone who can start on 1 July 2026.
