About the RoleWe are looking for a reliable and motivated Plant Hygiene Supervisor to join the hygiene operation at Pladis / McVitie's Carlisle.
This role will focus on supervising plant and line cleaning across production areas, with particular responsibility for ensuring hygiene teams complete cleaning activities safely, efficiently and to the required food manufacturing standard.
You will support the delivery of cleaning schedules, check standards, coach team members, complete documentation and work closely with site teams to ensure production areas are clean, compliant and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities
-Supervise hygiene operatives during plant and line cleaning tasks.
-Allocate work and ensure cleaning schedules are completed on time.
-Check hygiene standards across production lines, equipment and surrounding areas.
-Ensure Cleaning Work Instructions, risk assessments and safe systems of work are followed.
-Support handover of cleaned areas back to production.
-Ensure hygiene records, task sheets and sign-off documents are completed accurately.
-Maintain standards for PPE, COSHH, food safety and health and safety.
-Report safety concerns, defects, damaged equipment, contamination risks or missed cleans.
-Support team training, coaching and performance management.
-Communicate with production, engineering, technical and hygiene management teams.
What We Are Looking ForThe ideal candidate will have:
-Previous experience in hygiene, cleaning, manufacturing or food production.
-Supervisory, team leader or chargehand experience.
-Good knowledge of plant cleaning or production line cleaning.
-Strong attention to detail.
-Good communication and organisation skills.
-Ability to work safely and support others to follow safe systems of work.
-Confidence to challenge poor standards and escalate concerns.
-A flexible, reliable and professional approach.
Food manufacturing hygiene experience would be an advantage.
