Summary

Job Advert

We’re expanding our pool of musicians and tutors for our Make Music Weekend School and are looking for people to help shape

inspiring musical experiences for children and young people aged 4 to 18.

Whether you’re an experienced educator, a performing artist, or early in your teaching journey, if this role feels like it could

be a good fit for you, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

You’ll deliver engaging, inclusive and inspiring music sessions across a range of programmes, from first musical experiences to

advanced training for young people with exceptional potential. You might be working 1:1, in small groups or with ensembles,

supporting young people to develop their skills, creativity, confidence and love of music.

We’re particularly interested in tutors with specialisms in:

Music production

Piano

Violin

Cello

Woodwind

We're excited to offer several opportunities within our team. Below is a quick overview of each role. Have a read and let us know

which ones catch your interest:

Saturday

* Cello - c. 4 hours

* Upper strings - c. 4 hours

* Woodwind (saxophone/flute/clarinet) - c. 4 hours

* Music production - 2 hours, 2:30-4:30pm

Sunday

* Piano - c. 6 hours

* Violin - c. 5 hours

We’re especially keen to hear from people working in popular, jazz and jazz influenced styles, and those who use improvisation and

composition in their teaching.

Our programmes are rooted in the belief that music belongs to everyone. We centre young people’s interests, identities and

ambitions, working across musical styles without hierarchy, and taking an inclusive, learner-centred approach to everything we do.

When: Saturdays and/or Sundays (term time)

Where: The Glasshouse, Gateshead

Contract: Freelance or employed options available (flexible to suit portfolio careers)

Rate: £35.71 per hour (incl. holiday pay)

If you’re interested in applying, even if you’re not sure you meet every requirement, we encourage you to get in touch. We’re

interested in finding the right fit both ways.

Our commitment to your development

At The Glasshouse, we’re always learning. And we know that when it comes to training, everyone is different. So, you’ll work

closely with your manager to identify what your training journey will look like. If you have a specific interest or you would like

to develop your skills in a certain area, we want to hear about it.

This may be through gaining a qualification, on-the-job training or learning within your team, but whatever path you take, through

training and support, we’ll help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to thrive in your role.
