Counterbalance Forklift Truck OperatorPermanent Opportunity | Manufacturing font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">ABOUT THE ROLEWe are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in Alfreton, Derbyshire, for an experienced Counterbalance Forklift Truck Operator to join their busy site operations team on a permanent basis.This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and safety-conscious FLT operator to secure a stable, long-term position within a professional and well-run manufacturing environment. The company produces high-quality products and operates a busy yard and warehouse, meaning this role is central to keeping daily operations running smoothly and efficiently.You will be working Monday to Friday on early shifts starting from 5:00am, providing a consistent and predictable working pattern with no weekend work required. If you hold a valid external Counterbalance Forklift licence and are looking for your next permanent role, we would love to hear from you.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAs a Counterbalance Forklift Truck Operator, you will play a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the site. Your duties will include:

• Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently across the site, yard, and warehouse areas, in strict accordance with your licence conditions and all relevant health and safety legislation

• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, HGVs, and containers accurately and to schedule, ensuring all goods are handled safely and without damage throughout the process.

• Moving raw materials, components, and finished goods around the site as directed, ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time to support uninterrupted production.

• Assisting with goods-in and goods-out processes, checking incoming deliveries against documentation and preparing outbound loads for despatch to the required standard

• Stacking and storing palletised goods safely within designated racking and floor storage areas, maintaining an organised and hazard-free warehouse and yard environment at all times

• Conducting daily pre-use checks on the forklift truck and associated equipment, identifying, and reporting any defects, damage, or maintenance requirements to the relevant supervisor before commencing operation

• Working closely with the warehouse, production, and logistics teams to coordinate the movement of goods and ensure operational priorities are met throughout each shift.

• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-organised yard and warehouse environment, upholding high standards of housekeeping, and contributing to a safe working environment for all site personnel

• Completing any required paperwork, movement records, or stock documentation accurately and in a timely manner as part of the role

• Adhering to all site health and safety policies, traffic management plans, and pedestrian segregation procedures at all times, setting a positive example for safe forklift operation on siteWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWe are looking for a reliable, experienced, and safety-focused operator who takes pride in their work and can be counted on to perform consistently to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have:

• A valid external Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence — this is an essential requirement for the role and applications without a recognised external licence cannot be considered.

• A minimum of 2 years of practical counterbalance operating experience, ideally gained within a manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environment.

• A thorough understanding of forklift safety, site traffic management, and the responsibilities that come with operating powered industrial vehicles in a busy working environment.

• Experience of loading and unloading HGVs, containers, and delivery vehicles safely and accurately, with a good understanding of load weight, stability, and securing requirements

• A reliable and punctual approach to work — early starts from 5:00am are a requirement of the role and candidates must be comfortable with and committed to this working pattern.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider site team, liaising with colleagues in production, logistics, and management as required.

• A proactive attitude to housekeeping and site safety, taking personal responsibility for maintaining a clean and hazard-free working environment throughout every shift.
